BOM says weather changes will bring extreme heat to Northern Victoria

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting an increase in temperatures over the weekend.

Senior Forecaster, Tom Delamotte, said Friday and Sunday are expected to be warm.

"We will see temperatures jump, particularly through inland parts of Victoria as North-Westerly winds develop across the state ahead of a trough moving in from South Australia," he said.

"That's going to start to drag that very warm air which is sitting over inland parts of Australia at the moment down towards Victoria,

"With that, temperatures jumping up into the high thirties through Northern Victoria."

Mr Delamotte said temperatures will peak at around 39 degrees, and while Saturday is expected to be slightly cooler, it will warm up again on Sunday
