Police are appealing for witnesses

Police are investigating after an ATM was stolen during a ram raid in Numurkah early this morning.

Police were called to reports a ute has smashed through the front windows of a service station on the Goulburn Valley Highway about 1.40am.

The four thieves have been unable to load the ATM into the ute so have tied it to the back of the ute and dragged it from the scene.

All north bound lanes of the Goulburn Valley Highway are closed between Walsh's Bridge Road and Katamatite-Nathalia road during the police operation, while southbound lanes had a reduced speed limit.
