Work promised

Minister promises to fix 'urgent' needs at Echuca Specialist School

$14 million had been allocated to allow the school to move, which had been pulled by the government.

Last week's Victorian budget again snubbed the school and Mr Merlino offered no firm plans for when the money would be available.

When asked to address the Echuca community, he used his time to attack the opposition for its lack of action on the issue.

He also offered a long list of school projects funded in this year's budget and pointed out the lack of spending from the previous government.

Education Minister James Merlino has vowed to work with Echuca Specialist School to fix any 'urgent' issues.

Mr Merlino was asked by Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh during question time on Thursday to address the school community and explain why the school had missed out.

He was told by Mr Walsh that raw sewerage often contaminated the playground, highlighting the need for the school to fulfil its promise and join Echuca West and Echuca South primary schools at the new Twin Rivers School.
