A number of local hospitals are set to benefit from a funding boost from the Victorian Government to be put towards telehealth services.
The Loddon Mallee Health Network and the Hume Regional Partnership are two of the five networks to receive the support, which includes Echuca Regional Health, Cohuna District Hospital, Kyabram and District Health, Rochester and Elmore District Health, Cobram District Health, Nathalia District Hospital and so many other hospitals.
To support patients receiving medical care closer to home via telehealth, the $4.5 million investment will be shared across the hospitals.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp stated it was making life easier for locals.
“We’re making it easier for locals to see a specialist because delaying that appointment can have devastating health consequences. Please do not delay getting the care you need – it could save your life.”
Each region will receive a regional telehealth lead and local telehealth support officers who will train clinicians and support patients on how to use telehealth, as well as fund equipment such as webcams, computers, tablets and headsets.
